With today’s extensive CAD software capabilities, it becomes increasingly “tempting” to design very intricate, complex systems that combine a variety of components from different types of manufacturing processes.

The design stage of a project is extremely important in new product (or system) introduction. This is the stage of a project where costs are established for the new product being developed, and where overall functionality is addressed. Many Omega Plastics customers rely on our experience in thermoplastic profile extrusion and fabrication at the design stage to gain input during the initial stage of a project.

For instance; what raw material is best for the application? Omega Plastics extrudes products from a variety of thermoplastic compounds, including the following:

Omega Plastics encourages up front involvement in a project, to allow both extrusion and fabrication techniques to be considered as part of the overall design process. For instance, beyond cutting a part to length, are there punching, milling, printing, or ultrasonic welding operations that can be performed during our process that can reduce overall cost, or improve performance of the final product? Omega also has tape application, tailored packaging, primer or glue application, and sub assembly capabilities that can add value to the final product.
